Health & Wellbeing

Want to meet new people, spend time by the sea and do something good for the environment?

Join the LIFE for Dunes PL volunteering programme organised by the University of Gdańsk in cooperation with Torus, the developer and operator of all.inn. It’s a great opportunity to discover the beauty of the Polish coast, learn more about its ecosystem and take care of something we all share – nature.

Live, connect and take action

Student life is not just about studying and everyday life in a student residence. It is also a time to meet new people, discover interesting places and get involved in initiatives that have a real impact on the world around us. That is why we invite all interested all.inn residents to take part in a unique project – LIFE for Dunes PL.

What is Life for Dunes PL?

The project, run by the University of Gdańsk, aims to protect the biodiversity of coastal dunes in the southern Baltic region. Activities take place mainly along the Polish coast, but also cover selected areas in Germany and on the Curonian Spit. The goal is not only to protect valuable natural habitats, but also to develop effective methods for managing coastal areas.

What can you do as a volunteer?

The project organises volunteering activities for adults/ students who want to get involved in nature conservation while spending time outdoors and meeting new people.

Volunteers can help with activities such as:

  • cleaning up coastal areas,
  • removing invasive plant species,
  • protecting natural dune ecosystems,
  • supporting activities aimed at preserving coastal biodiversity.

One of the species volunteers may help remove is Japanese rose, along with Caspian willow, which can negatively affect the natural balance of coastal dune habitats.

No previous experience is needed – just a willingness to help and a bit of energy for working together in the fresh air. The University of Gdańsk provides transport, guidance, all necessary equipment and personal protective gear. Participation in the event is completely free of charge!

Why join a volunteering project as a student in Gdansk?

Living in Gdansk as a student gives you plenty of opportunities to study, socialise and explore the city. But getting involved in local initiatives can make your experience even more memorable.

Volunteering is a simple way to:

  • meet people outside your usual university circle,
  • spend time outdoors,
  • discover new places around Gdansk,
  • practise English and meet international students,
  • learn more about Polish nature,
  • do something positive for the local environment.

How is all.inn involved?

Torus, the company behind all.inn – Home of Students, is involved in organising and coordinating the volunteering programme.

For us, student life is not only about having a comfortable place to live and study. It is also about the people you meet, the experiences you collect and the community you become part of.

That is why initiatives like LIFE for Dunes PL fit naturally into the all.inn idea of living, learning and connecting.

Is LIFE for Dunes PL suitable for international students?

Absolutely.

Gdansk is home to students from Poland and many other countries, and international students are especially welcome to join the project. Communication in English makes it easier for everyone to take part, connect with other volunteers and feel comfortable from the very beginning.

It is also a great opportunity to experience something outside the typical international student life in Gdansk – and discover Polish nature from a completely different perspective.

What can you discover beyond everyday student life in Gdansk?

One of the locations connected with the project is the Hel Peninsula, one of the most distinctive parts of the Polish Baltic coast.

A volunteering trip can therefore become more than just a day of helping with nature conservation. It can also be an opportunity to get outside the city, spend time by the “open sea” and discover one of the places that make the Polish coast so special.

Ready to live, connect and take action?

If you enjoy staying active, care about nature and want to experience something more than a regular day of student life, LIFE for Dunes PL might be the perfect adventure for you.
