Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) Admission 2026/27 for International Students 

Getting into medical school is stressful enough. Add international recruitment, translated documents, entrance exams and visa formalities, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed before the process has even started. Every year, over 900 international students choose MUG, making it one of the most international universities in Poland. Whether you’re applying for Medicine, Pharmacy or Nursing, most of the recruitment process can be completed online from your home country. 

As the Medical University of Gdańsk itself states, it educates more than 900 international students, who make up over 15% of the university’s student population each year. What’s even more impressive is that they represent more than half of all international students studying in Gdańsk. It’s easy to see why. 

International applicants can choose from several programmes taught entirely in English through the university’s English Division. These include the 6-year Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) programme, as well as Pharmacy and Nursing. For many applicants, the attraction is simple: English-taught programmes, internationally recognised degrees and a recruitment process that can be completed almost entirely online. Also for many students, Gdańsk itself is another advantage, offering easy access to the sea, green spaces and a high quality of life. 

The admission system for international students opens on 18 March 2026. 

Registration deadlines depend on the programme: 

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), 15 July 2026 

• Bachelor of Nursing, 31 July 2026 

• Master of Pharmacy, 31 July 2026 

• Premedical Course, 31 July 2026 

If you apply through an external recruitment agency cooperating with MUG, some internal deadlines may be earlier, so always confirm the dates directly with the agency. 

The admission process for English Division programmes follows several straightforward steps. 

1. Create an account online – Start by creating an account in MUG’s online admission system and complete the application form. 

2. Upload a passport-style photo – Applicants must upload a recent JPG photo that meets passport photo requirements. 

3. Pay the registration fee – The registration fee for candidates applying directly through the Admission Office is 100 PLN.  Payment must be made before the registration deadline using the individual bank account number assigned in the admission system. 

4. Upload required documents – All documents should be uploaded as PDF files through the admission platform. 

Required documents include: 

• Secondary school diploma 

• Transcript of grades 

• Apostille or consular legalization of the diploma 

• Certified English translation (if the original document is not in English or Polish) 

• English language certificate confirming at least B2 level proficiency 

• Copy of a valid passport 

Entrance exam and interview 

For most international candidates applying to the Doctor of Medicine programme, school grades alone are not enough. 

The admission process also includes an entrance exam and an interview conducted in English. More information and current examination dates can be found on the official MUG admission website. 

The online exam covers: 

• Biology 

• Chemistry 

The test consists of multiple-choice questions based on secondary school-level knowledge. 

Candidates choose an available examination date during the application process. The current schedule is published in the admission system. 

Is there an interview? 

Yes. 

In addition to the written exam, candidates take part in an interview conducted in English. 

The admission committee evaluates: 

• English language proficiency 

• Motivation to study medicine 

• Suitability for the medical profession 

• Knowledge of biology and chemistry 

The final ranking is based on school results, entrance exam performance and interview results.

The qualification procedure differs slightly depending on the programme. 

Nursing 

Candidates participate in an interview conducted in English that assesses communication skills and suitability for the profession. 

Pharmacy 

Applicants take part in an interview conducted in English that evaluates their knowledge of biology and chemistry, as well as their motivation to study pharmacy. 

Tuition fees and charges 

Before applying, it’s worth familiarising yourself with the costs associated with studying at MUG. 

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) 

• Orientation Week fee: 3,100 PLN 

• Tuition fee: 32,100 PLN per semester 

Master of Pharmacy 

• Orientation Week fee: 3,100 PLN 

• Tuition fee: 20,850 PLN per semester 

Bachelor of Nursing 

• Orientation Week fee: 3,100 PLN 

• Tuition fee: 13,700 PLN per semester 

Premedical Course 

• Course fee: 33,000 PLN 

When transferring money from abroad, remember that any banking charges must be covered separately. The full tuition amount must reach the university’s account. 

After completing all stages of the admission process, candidates receive points for: 

• Secondary school results 

• Entrance exam performance 

• Interview results 

Based on these scores, the university creates a ranking list and publishes admission decisions through the candidate portal. 

Receiving your acceptance letter is a huge step, but there are still a few formalities to complete before classes begin. 

Accepted students must submit original documents, including legalized educational certificates or documents bearing an apostille. 

Students are also required to: 

• Complete tuition-related formalities 

• Arrange health insurance 

• Prepare any necessary travel documents 

Because some of these procedures can take time, many students begin preparing several months before the start of the academic year.
